This delightful little painting is a burst of pearly pink paint off set with vibrant greens and blues. From my studio I have a borrowed view into my neighbour’s garden and every year the pink roses cascade over the pergola in celebration of the Spring and begging me to paint them.
Technique and Colour: While a small painting it commands attention. The thick encaustic pearlescent paint of pink, green and blue provides contrast to the still visible under painting giving it further dimension. This painting is a result of a spontaneous connection to the subject and evidence that it was painted
enplein air (from my studio) shows a freedom of brush stroke and a wet on wet mixing of colours on the canvas.
